“We need people to know that the [city’s] gun buyback program is still in process,” Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said recently. “We’ve never ended it. So we’re going to continue to push that out there, and having more information out there letting them know that the program is still in existence, it’s a good thing.” The reason he’s pushing the program in the media, however, is that the Boston Police Department has received a grand total of one (1) firearm so far this year.
